Sustainable Construction

Sustainable Construction

Ernst Basler + Partners and Geoklock had an important role in the 2015 sustainable architecture exhibition Expo Arquitetura Sustentável 2015. The event happened in November, in the city of São Paulo. Switzerland is a world reference in sustainability, and the Swiss experience was taught in a workshop entitled “Building Sustainability – a Swiss-Brazilian exchange”. Renowned Swiss institutions – such as the Zurich Federal Institute’s Urban Think Tank – shared their most recent studies. The event also counted with the participation of innovative Brazilian companies in the field of sustainable construction.

The event had the support of the Brazilian Council of Sustainable Construction – the main institution to foster and disseminate information on sustainable construction in Brazil. During the event, case studies and solutions presented a new market view, demonstrating the efficiency of sustainable construction design and technology. The event also addressed crucial issues for the development of this sector, such as financing, training and the differences in the roles and responsibilities of architects in such projects in Europe and Brazil. Hans-Christian Angele is the director of Ernst Basler + Partner/Geoklock and an expert in sustainable construction, energy and environment. His presentation broke some paradigms that will help build a new mentality in our country.

(Incidentally, Hans-Christian also leads our companies in the Maraú Energy project, which has been getting a lot of attention because of the development it is bringing to the Maraú Peninsula in Bahia.)

The event also had the participation of: Andreas Binkert, director of Nüesch Development, who shared his expertise on the vision of investors operating in several countries; of Paolo Fuchs of Archipart; Architect Patricia O’Reilly, who has extensive experience working abroad and is an expert in sustainable construction; Urbanist Architect Adriana Levisky, who is a member of the CBCS council and a partner at Levisky Arquitetos | Estratégia Urbana; and Thomas Foerst, director of Swiss Business Hub, an organization that promotes collaborative actions between Switzerland and Brazil. The event had the support of the Consulate of Switzerland, of Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) and of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA), as part of a pilot project referred to as “Ingenious Switzerland.”
